So... any thoughts or comments about today's test? I felt that the Math portion (at least on my test) was a lot more difficult than the norm, but the rest of the sections were about on par for difficulty.

it was way harder tha
n the sep test

Math was awful! The rest of the sections were managable.

it was horrible. every section, i missed a column when they called five minutes. i just bubbled in my favorite letters.

bijoux7, I feel you on that. The time restrictions were unbelievable (especially since my proctor took away my "alarming" watch halfway thru the test when I needed it most!) and I just panicked on the science part. I'm just not cut for timed tests, they bring out the WORST in me.

Math can go kill itself. :(

And to think I"m good at math after bombing that Math section :(

science would have been manageable with more time, too much readign and thinknig to be done in 35 minutes, with 5 mintues left i had like 12 questions left and was panicking!

rest of the sections were fairly easy imo, but did anyone get the matrices problem? i jsut multiplied because i don't remember matrices beign as comples as choices d and e

one of the writing questions...was it "each author's" or "an author's"? I think I put each author's

Also, compared to last time I took it, I think I did better on the Reading, about the same on English and Science (maybe a little worse on science), and much worse on the Math.

Also, since the math and other sections were harder on today's test, do you think it will be scaled easier? (hopefully much easier)

an author's

math and science were horrible! even a easy curve won't help much. at least reading was easy...

I know, the last time I took the it I finished all the math questions but today I had more than 10 questions unanswered by the time when time was up.

ok, another thing. On the science portion, one question they asked about the Gram stain bacteria, was it nucleus, cell membrane, chloroplast, or mitochondria? I chose nucleus, but there wasn't anything in the paragraph that talked about this!

cell membrane - this was discussed on another thread

you mean "which of the following cell parts are not present in animals?" that was chloroplast, because only plants have chloroplasts

And also, does anyone know if ACT changes its scaling from test to test according to national averages on each section? I know that in the Princeton Review book, missing 1 on math always means 35, missing 2 means 34, etc. But if on one test date the math was much more difficult than on another, is this taken into account? I think I might have missed 4 or 5 questions on math alone... but if the national average math score for this test date is lower, could 4 wrong become a 33 or 34 instead of a 32?

I was actually going for a 36 this time, I don't think I missed any in reading or English, and 1 wrong, if any, in science. If I can somehow pull a 34 in math I might have gotten it.

sounds reasonable to me. i am hoping. i'm going to need it for the reading and science passages. i was confident with my answers but the time just ran out.

it was cell membrane...passage talked about if its color was pink or purple.
