Hi everyone, I'm taking the ACT on Sept. 15 and I really don't know much about it since I live in NY and it's really not an "ACT state."

Anyway, how much different is the ACT essay from the SAT essay, other than the extra 5 minutes? I took the SAT in May and I managed to get a 11 on the essay. Hopefully I can score around the same with the ACT one!

They're really not that different. However, while the SAT essay tends to be more broad, the ACT is more straight-forward and asks for more specific and definitive questions.
I personally prefer the ACT essays since they don't make me think "wt/fdkla/f" upon reading them.

Ah, ok. The ACT doesn't expect you to make references to literature/history/current events, right?

My act essay prompt was "should states raise the driving age to 18" and gave a few points to each.

Not sure how they could've expected something lit. like in there.
