How should one go about writing it?

First at all, you need a lot of practice with timing. Try to use 5 min for brainstorming, 20 min for the writing, and the last 5 min for revision. I have the test in the next 11 days, and I haven’t started practicing yet. Good luck, =)

Just wondering…According to RR, the SAT essay should be as long as possible. Does anyone know if the length of the ACT essay affects your score?

I wrote a REALLY GOOD ACT essay, in my opinion.
I got an 8/12 and a 22/36 on English. The combined was a 23.

On the SAT, I got a 6/12. The essay was crappy.

They were both the same length, a page and like 3 lines I think. If I had written more on the ACT I would have done better. And yes, in the test booklet, the Sample scored essays go in order from score lowest with least amount to highest score with most pages filled up. I don’t know if that’s always true but it seems like it.
