ACT extended time

I am currently a junior in high school. I recently have been diagnosed with moderate ADD. I have had symptoms and my teachers have noticed since I was in second grade, but I have not officially made it apparent to my teachers until now. I am taking the ACT this winter and want to received extra time. Do I have a chance of receiving it or do you think they will just reject me because I have just now gotten diagnosed and told the school? Do you have any tips? It would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the documentation that you need.

You need to have an IEP or Section 504 plan in place. Both the student and the school must request this waiver.

Here is how you request it

If you are getting extra time in school for tests, then most likely you will get it for the ACT. If approved, you will be allowed up to 5 hours total to work on the multiple-choice tests at your own pace. If you are taking the ACT with writing, you will be allowed 6 hours total to work on all five tests.

Definitely go through this process. It is a long one, but it will help you get a better score. 6 hours is a lot of time for that exam!

D received extended time on the ACT and SAT. Start the process several months before your test and you may have to submit original paper copies of documents rather than scanned images or e-mails. It is definitely worth going through the process assuming you have a legitimate medical / pyschological issue warranting accomodation
