Yeah I got those two answers. For the matrix one, I remember there were two answers that contained those sets of numbers. I didn't know which one was right, but I picked the first one. It was either B or C. I think B though.

I have the matrix still in my calculator, and I scrolled through the last 10 problems I did using 2nd enter, it was no feat of memory :) and whoohaa, I think it was b too. and avant-garde are you sure about the answer being 54?

There was definitely a hexagon problem though. Maybe there was one of each lol?

The pentagon problem looked had a pentagon with a two diagnals going from the bottom left and bottom right vertices and going to the top vertices.

What is your reasoning for 72? Given the nature of the problem, I don't see how that is a feasible answer. A side of 108 was given. Then there was a diagonal bisecting one of the angles of the pentagon. How would that equal 72?

in the science section did anyone get 3/16 for what the genotype of the fruit or whatever would be closest to? i can't remember the exact question, but i think all of the choices had 16 in the denominator

for the one that I got 72, it was given that one angle was 108. when you divide each side into a triagle, by connecting the corners, the bases come out to 36. subtract 108-36 to find the part for the answer. or something like that.

Okay, think of it as being three separate triangles. 108 was one angle of a triangle, and then since the line went through two of the other 108 angles, they each had to be equal to add up to 180, meaning they had to equal 36. That means that each angle with a line through it was cut into a 36 and 72 degree angle (since 36 plus 72 equals 108). The specific angle they asked for was one of the 72 angles.

for the one that I got 72, it was given that one angle was 108. when you divide each side into a triagle, by connecting the corners, the bases come out to 36. subtract 108-36 to find the part for the answer. or something like that.

omg I'm so stupid for not seeing that the left triangle was isosceles. 180-108= 72/2 = 36. 108-36 = 72.

science--if some new category of space stuff was discovered between mercury and some other planet, which scientist's view point would it strengthen? (pluto passage)

Ah, you guys are right. 72 makes sense. Good reasoning.

mhh - There was only one "strengthening" answer choice--that it would strengthen both arguments, which I believe is false. Hence I chose that with the new category it would weaken scientist 1's position.
