Act-feb 9-test Questions

ephemeral- why would the values be decreasing?

Actually they would decrease only if the numerator stayed the same, but the denominator got bigger.

i only got the red yellow blue one because we just learned the equation for index of refraction on friday

it was the one with ",though," in the answer choice..thats all i remember

student, was it the one that had "..., though,"

also the one english passage about the photographer wanting to make his photos more impactful, was it the one where he chose to make his photos short and concise or straightforward?

i thought the numerator did stay the same? about 600 watts or whatever the units were, then the denominator increased as you moved from left to right on the graph.... 600 / increasing numbers = decreasing

also, i thought you couldn't treat ratios as fractions..because on a previous ACT or SAT problem I did that, and i got it wrong..

OKay, on the ratio, who knows for sure what the answer is? I put decreasing.

I'm positive it's decreasing.

i put decreasing

i just posted this but i dont see it.. weird

anyways I'm pretty sure it's decrease, unless im missing something fundamental about the problem.

Numerator = y value = about a constant 600 watts (or whatever units)
Denominator = x values = increasing

600 / increasing x values = decreasing

(and it specified a certain range in the middle of the graph where the y values did indeed stay constant)

Good explanation, Ephemeral2.

I agree, I put decreasing. also, for the math problem about the two dots on the xy-coordinate, two planes 2east, 1 south from airport, and 4 north 10 west of it, why didn't the distance formula work? was solving it with pyth. theorem the only way? was the answer 13?

distance formula worked for me

How about the other math question about how many times did you have to take a marble or sth out to guarantee 1 of each color. Was it like 12?

Yes, it was 13.

me too ticktock, i used pathog. th. and it def didn't work. so i guessed and put 13

really spaz? I kept on getting 9 something, must have been something stupid. But was 13 the right answer?

Scratch this... irrelevant

it was 13. A 5-12-13 triangle. That made me smile.

good guessing pays off
