ACT free booklet

If you have the ACT booklet that they give out free, could anyone help with problems 30 and 54 in the math section?

are you doing the 2005/2006 act or the 2006/2007?

answer and i can tell you how to do them

For 20007/2008:

q30.
D=24 feet (from the diagram before q.29).
R = 12 feet
C = pi D = 24 pi

The length of the zipper
R + 45 deg arc =
27 + 24 pi 45/360 ~= 21.4 —>> answer G.

q54.
The finished round tablecloth should have a radius equal to at least the sum of
radius of the table = 3/2 feet ,
hanging part = 5 inches, and
folded under part = 1 inch;
altogether it’s 24 inches.
The diameter of the “minimal” table cloth is 48 inches.
Kirk should use a rectangular piece of fabric 60 inches wide and 48 inches long —>> answer K.

its the 2007/2008 version

where did you get 27? what is R? i think you mean its 12, not 27

im still confused why 54 isn’t 15..

^^you’re right, R=12 of course.

Now your turn - where (and how) did you get 15 in q54??

6 inches hanging on each side so 12, plus the 3 from the diameter of the table

i think im misunderstanding the question..

The table with the diameter 3 inches? kinda tiny. =P

OH i see..
tricky >(!
