I am taking the ACT's on April 9th and have honestly no idea how to take them. I just did practice sections of math and science, and got:

Math-9
Science-2 wrong

I've done a few reading/writing practice questions here and there, and have gotten them mostly right. (I got 800 in CR on SAT's, and am awaiting a probably high 700 in Writing, so I'm not that worried about those 2 sections.

A few questions:

What would my math and science scores come out to?
Are those bad scores for a beginner?
What score should I be aiming for if I'm looking at Ivies, and a bit lower? What would be the equivalent of a 2200 SAT?
What is some good, free practice?
Any essential tips?

Thanks so much.

I took the ACT in February, and though I was weak in two sections (math and science) I still scored a 30. I plan on taking the ACT again, but a 30 and higher is where you should be aiming for the Ivy League. Don’t stress yourself out too much though, there will always be an opportunity to retake it.
Honestly, the scores you’ve gotten on your practice test aren’t too bad. It is possible to score highly even if you do badly in 2 of the 4 sections. I didn’t even finish my math or science sections. Just remember to pace yourself. I found the ACT much more time constrained than the SAT. There are 60 math questions in 60 minutes…that was killer. A 2200 is a great SAT score, so I would say you should be pretty solid on the ACT. Just be calm and efficient, and pace yourself. Practice what the Princeton Review book called “triage”…if a problem “can’t be saved” move on. Come back only if you have time.
Hope this helps!

Yes, ok, thank you so much. Are there any online tests I could practice on?
