ACT Help/Questions?

Hello! I come from a socially and economically disadvantaged background, so I can't exactly take some prep class from Kaplan that will help me and answer all my questions...

I'm taking the ACT in April and then in June. What are the best ways to start studying for it? I recently bought the red book but now what else should I do? I know I'm not particularly great at math or science, so are there any specific books that are really helpful for that? Are there any books besides the red book worth that are worth checking out? How did you guys study for it? I have about two months to prepare for my first time taking it. What were your studying schedules like? How EXACTLY did YOU prep? Advice? Tips?

I also understand that you're supposed to write down colleges you want to send the scores to when you take the test. Can someone please elaborate on that? What if I don't know which colleges I want to be send my scores to? I'm confused about this whole part, so can someone please explain. And what if I do really badly on the test, won't the colleges that I wrote down see them and not want me?

Should I take the SAT as well or no? I think a lot of schools require SAT II Subject tests? When are those administered and should I take them? What are those like? What is prep like for that? Are the subject tests administered as the same day as the SAT? Which subjects do people take? How many should one take if they take them? Should I just focus on getting the 31+ score on my ACT and doing well on the SAT II Subject tests right now...and just forget the SAT?

I'm aiming for at least a 31 but 32-33 is more ideal for me. I'm really bad at standardized testing and if someone, anyone, could help me and answer my questions, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Red book = best way for students who are short on money. They’ll give you a list of colleges to send scores to and you can put undecided I’m pretty sure. I’m not that educated on ACT so I’ll just answer SAT now.

Yeah sure take the SAT if you’re prepared for it. You don’t HAVE to (most schools take either, but schools in the east usually “prefer” SAT (though they say they weigh them the same)). Subject tests dates can be found at [U.S</a>. Registration](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>SAT Dates and Deadlines – SAT Suite | College Board), SAT can be taken on any of the dates.

Buy the blue book for SAT prep. Take subjects that you’ve taken the AP version in school or buy a study book for the subject test.

Focus on one test at a time, SAT is generally considered more challenging, however.

Again, you can take the subject tests (which are required for some colleges, I recommend at least taking Math II) and not take the SAT.
