Okay, I have taken the ACT in Feb and scored a 27. Now, most consider that good, but I know I can perform better. I actually studied for the test I took recently, except I ran out of time on the English section (my weakest section). I had approximately 25 unanswered questions, so that just threw me off the entire test after and I was ready to walk out. What can be done to improve my score to maybe a 33? I have practiced a lot (I mean it), and have several books and copies of tests. Do I need to practice time more since that wasn’t my main focus these past few months? Or purchase better books? I used the Red Book, Barron’s ACT (the content is good, tests just aren’t that great) and Persons 2007 ACT Review book. What else can be used? I am also considering some real person tutoring. Any thoughts, or suggestions? Thanks
Also, any apps? I used varsity tutors
Please please help
If you’re really struggling with English, you need to read more. Read good books or just articles. Also, study grammar rules and memorize them. The English section can be very easy if you have a strong command of the language.
So if you are struggling with English, have you identified your weak area’s in English section? Like is it punctuation, grammar, verb tense, redundancy, verbose, etc. etc.
If you have taken quite a few practice tests, I would look at all the missed questions and guessed questions (even if you guessed right), identify which area of English they are from and make a list on what I need to work on.
It is quite possible they are all over the place but you definitely must be missing most in some area.
