So I take the ACT again March 1st and I need help studying. With little studying I achieved a C 31 (31 E 30 M 30 R 31 S) and I need a bunch of cheap tips to do better. I used the princeton review book for the little studying but want some more help. I really need to hit at least the 33 mark!
It’s hard to help without knowing the specifics…what do you find yourself struggling with the most in each section? Is time an issue?
When I did the ACT in December timing was not that big of an issue; I finished with just over a couple of seconds left in each section confidently. However, a lot of the things I missed were pretty even across topics and subjects. @violingirl15
Have you used the Red Book yet? That book contains past ACT exams and is written by the actual authors of the ACT.
Okay…then I’ll just have to give some general tips. For English, it may benefit you to review grammar and other rules, keeping in mind that the simplest, most straightforward answer is usually correct (provided no grammatical mistakes are present). For Math, work quickly, and leave enough time to check for simple mistakes at the end. Back substitution is also a useful skill when it comes to saving time. For Reading, it’s different for every person…just keep in mind that all the info you need to answer the questions is in the passage, and try looking at things from a different perspective if you get stuck. Science: generally I would say skip the reading (except, of course, in the conflicting viewpoints passage) and go straight to the questions. Make sure not to make simple mistakes when reading the graphs. Hope this helps!
