ACT help

hello everyone. i am a new member, and i was reading some of the comments posted about the act. They seemed very honest and helpful. Sooo i hope to get some of that great feedback. i am currently on summer vacation going into my junior year. i am studying for the act on my own with a book i purchased. i took two practice tests on my own and i scored a 24 then a 26. i am 2nd in my class out of about 517, and i am very involved. i want to go to a top university, but with my above mentioned scores i know it will be difficult. i am open to any advice. i was planning on hiring a private tutor since my parents are willing to pay for the help, but i am not sure?? i want a 28 at the worst. any advice would be grealy appreciated

top universities? you should aim for a 32 or 31 at the least. go with the tutor…NAO

thanks. i think i will go with a tutor.

I would consult the ACT discussion board for further suggestions though, what’s the point in paying when you can easily learn it yourself? Study it, don’t just take the test, you have to know the information first. The internet is better than any paid for tutor.

^Yes, but now it’s really crappy, and all you can do is do the questions and that’s it. :(.

some learning centers promise an increase in score though. i kind of feel that a few points can make a big difference. my parens will pay; bottom line is it worth it? does anyone know of someone who has tried a tutor? i want my first shot to be my best

^ yes learning centers help. go to ones that are filled with asians (specifically Koreans)…they are experts in SAT/ACT prep

wow nobody has yet to give me that advice…haha
Just out of curiosity does anyboy have any suggestions to make a college application stand out besides good grades? i was reading some other posts, and people were talking about how they got accepted to schools like Harvard and Yale.
