If a question on the ACT's were to ask something about adjacent angles whose rays form a straight angle, and one angle is 3 times the other.. how would one go about finding the anwer to such a question.. if it were asked

x= measure of the smaller angle
3x=measure of the larger angle
4x=180 degree straight angle

180/4 = 45

smaller angle = 45
Larger angle = 135

YES!!!!!! got it

ha, me too

Nice! I got it too! (Although I was pretty sure I got it to begin with :) )

gotta <3 the title of this thread.

Yes!!! I got it... I used POE to get that .. hahaah! I love PR :)

EDIt: nevermind.. I thought you were asking a question which was the ACT yesterday and was similar....lol.

IT WAS LIKE...on there! wait not like, IT WAS on there...

;) I just guess that this was just a funny way to say supplementary angles -_-

I just use the answer choices and work backwards. Start with 135 and divide it by 3 (because you know it has to be 3x bigger than the other). This gives you 45. Then add the two angle measures (135 and 45) and see if you get 180. In this case you do, so it's correct. If it's not, move to the next one.

I got confused by the wording... i thought the angles were like this

/ or this /

now i see it was like this \ /

i hope this shows up correctly

Actually, I think it was like this:

45\135

thats what i meant... OKAY!?!!!?

... stop laughing at me..

I wasn't laughing at you. I was just trying to clarify something.

Hah... I was being sarcastic... i guess that doesn't come off too well on forums..

I dont really understand the question.
