ACT In February?

Hi CC,

The next ACT test date is February 6. Would Michigan consider these scores while my application is under review? I will not be able to know the results in time for the deadline.

It would be after the RD deadline, so I don’t think it would be helpful. By that time, they would be very busy in sending out admission notice and doing final review.

It depends when the results come back. If it takes 3 weeks - and request the results be sent directly to UM when you take the test, you are probably in the window especially if you let the admission office know. The writing portion is unlikely to be scored in time.

I would err on the safe side and say that is too late.

From Michigan custhelp:

The January SAT or ACT testing date is generally too late a date to ensure that your scores are received by the deadline date of February 1.

Since the application review cannot begin until all required components of an application, including the SAT or ACT with writing, have been received by our office and we review late completed applications on a space available basis only, all the spaces for the incoming class may be filled by the time the January test results are received by our office.

So, the site says that the Jan scores would be too late, so if you’re taking the Feb ACT it’ll probably reach them after all seats are taken. Sorry.

If you have already taken the ACT or SAT, admissions will use that score to evaluate your application. Any re-take would just be an additional data point.
