So, I am considering applying early action to Boston College. Boston College accepts the ACT in lieu of the SAT and the Subject Tests. My ACT score is a 34. My SAT score is a 2030 (obviously ACT is much better). I do have two Subject Tests over 750 though. Should I still send my SAT subject tests scores? Would BC even look at them if my ACT score is better than my SAT Reasoning score?

Yes, I would send both score reports. A 34 + 750x2 are great numbers.

Most colleges require that you send at least two subject test scores with your ACT/SAT scores.

You cannot just send your SAT Subject Tests - all tests taken through the SAT will be sent to the college. Only the ACT has score choice.

This will change March 2009 when collegeboard reverts back to score choice for SAT and you can send scores from any given date you choose.

I'm applying in November 2008 (for early decision for a college or two) and then in Jan. 2009 for other colleges.. so this means that the new SAT score choice won't be available for me? that's stupid... why don't they just make it this coming up year (like as of August 2008) or something like that?

i realize that all my SAT scores will be sent and I don't really care about that. It's not like I got a bad SAT Reasoning score, it was just w/e and I realized that I wasn't good at taking the SAT and was better at the ACT (which is why I retook that instead). I was just wondering if they would look at my subject tests (because i think that would only help my application) since BC specifies ACT OR SAT Reasoning and Subject.

i got 800 Math II, 800 Chem, and 740 Physics for the SAT subject tests... i want to send those to my colleges... but, they'll also send all my SAT I tests too, and my highest one is a 2070.... well, i have a 35 on my ACT, so will they just ignore the 2070 since my ACT score is a lot better than my SAT score but still look at the subject tests since I did really well on them?

No. Most schools need two subject test scores with the SAT. Most schools absolutely DO NOT require subject test scores if you send the ACT. You can send them if you like. But, you are right that they will then see the SAT I scores. But there is nothing wrong with your SATs at all. However, admissions committees will only "count" your highest scores, and will disregard the rest. So, if we can believe what they tell us... they will only count your ACT.

bump......

If thats the case why not send the ACT score dude? Thats what i would definitely do..

I would just send the ACT score.

You really need to check the requirements for each school, and send accordingly. A number of schools DO require the SAT Subject tests, even if you submit the SAT. Will they disregard the SAT I scores?? Hmmm... hard to know. What is your breakdown on ACT/SAT I gar_spartan? What is your intended major and do 750 scores correspond to that field of study?

Personally, I'd email an admissions adviser at the college.
