ACT *instead* of SAT?

Yea... I'm just worried that they'll look down on the applicant w/ ACT testing... O well.

Einstein,

If you are worried, why don't you call or email the colleges admissions office, just to get some peace of mind?

You have to remember that standardized testing is a multi-million dollar industry. Colleges advertise both acceptance rates in their admitted college profiles. There won't be a black mark next to your application if you took an ACT instead of an SAT!

Colleges won't look down on you for taking the ACT...geez Because every university in the United States now accepts the test, I think it's safe to infer that no college looks down on it. Face it, the SAT is no longer "the superior test." Each one is given equal weight. A 1980 will treated the same as a 30. You will not be treated unfairly because you've only taken the ACT. End of story.

Well the ACT is definitely gaining more popularity.

For those who say that ACT is easier, although this may be true in terms of test difficulty, I don't think it's true in terms of getting better scores. It's just as hard to get a 34-36 in the ACT's to hit the 1500's in the SAT's because of the harsh grading. It's easy to make a simple mistake and miss a question, which would cause your grade to drop down a full point.

All in all, the ACT can definitely be taken in place of the SAT. The only people who don't agree are those who believe in the whole "ACT is too easy" belief.
