ACT is making me mad!!

Okay to make a long story short, I didn't take the June ACT that I signed up for. I was told that once registration for 12-13 opened I could do a test date change for a small fee. Having already done this with the SAT, I had no problem with it and everything was fine, until it happened. Yesterday I went to do the test date change (which took FOREVER since their system so somehow so simple that it becomes complex), and once I finally go to the end I saw the charge was going to be $71!!!!!

Thinking I did something wrong I contacted ACT. Today they sent be back an email saying that they charge full price for the ACT test PLUS a test date change fee, but here is the "upside" they will "eventually give you a refund for the full price ACT minus the test date change fee," yeah their exact words. Eventually....

I don't have $71 for this neither do my parents. I'm seriously just thinking about not taking the ACT again at all (even though it is easier for me than the SAT). Any advice?

No advice? Anyone?

you can try explaining your situation to a school administrator and they will probably give you a fee waiver that you can use. just tell them the whole story. definitely don’t let money get in the way of you taking a test that’s easier for you than the alternative. don’t use the waiver on the test date change, just start a whole new registration for whatever test date you want to take

You can try to apply for a fee waiver or appeal to ACT Inc. again. Other than that… there’s not many options that seem to be available to you. Would taking the ACT/SAT again be a necessity for you?

yes I HAVE to take it again!

Just sign up for the next test date…then you’ll only have to pay 36 dollars.
