I got a 9/12 on the essay, which dropped my 35 on English to a 32 combined, but I wasn’t optimistic about it anyway. The comments weren’t very helpful: “General statements in your essay were well supported with specific reasons, examples, and details.”

I am utterly confused with my scores. Everything was about where I expected but one. I don’t understand how I can get 33/36 in reading, 9/12 in writing yet 24/36 in English =(

despite my frustration with reading, science and writing, I’m extremely happy with it. I’m still debating whether or not to take it again and shoot for a 34-36.

I got my writing score today. I went form a 9 in April to a 12 in June!

apollo, my s got the same composite as last time too…sigh…

COMPOSITE: 29
English: 29
Math: 33
Reading: 28
Science: 26
Writing: 10

Science can seriously suck it. I was only 2 individual section points away from breaking the 30s. Thank you Science section. -__-

Finally got mine two days ago, I was starting to fear that mine would be one of those 8 week cases because I chose to add writing on test day. Thank god I noticed that I needed to add the writing (colleges I’m applying to require it), even though I noticed only a week before my test, cause I would be very sad to not be able to use this score. This is my first time taking the ACT.

Composite: 35
English: 35
Math: 36
Reading: 33
Science: 36
Essay: 7

Essay’s pretty bad, but I don’t care. I’m not retaking this I was really surprised with the score, because I walked out of my test center thinking I epic failed, and everyone I talked to thought the same. I also thought that the SAT was much easier, which I had taken the week before, but my SAT ended up being only a 1500/2140. I guess the 1500 is pretty close to the 35, but I also kind of screwed up the writing section on the SAT (8 on essay), so it hurt my score pretty badly. I’m glad ACT doesn’t factor the essay into the composite.

composite:33

is it ok if i didnt take the essay. i cant tell if one of the colleges i am looking at needs it (it is the cooper union). anyone know?

FINALLY GOT MY SCORES TODAY!!
Composite: 35 (Up from a 33 in April)
English: 35 (Up from a 34)
Math: 36 (Up from a 34)
Reading: 32 (Down from a 33, oh well no biggie. I skipped two questions in June)
Science: 36 (Up from a 31!)
Essay: 11

I am so relieved I don’t have to test in Sept! It was such a good decision to try and take it in June and worth the $41 I had to pay as a standby.

I got a 36 composite according to the ACT website (35 english, 36 everything else). But, my friend told me that to actually get a 36 (i.e. a 36 that colleges view as a true 36), one must get a 36 on each section. Is this true? Thanks.

anyone ever get a perfect score on their essay?

I also got a 12 on my essay. Someone reply please…

I didn’t score a 12 lol. I was just curious, but I’ll aim for a 12 in September!

Sorry, I was referring to my previous post about how the concept of a “perfect” 36 vs. a 36 composite. And good luck :)
