ACT June testers

So I see no one has said this yet so I will: the international June 2011 test was the international December 2010 test, which I happened to take.

I even remembered all the reading passages. Hoping for for 35+ this time!

^ lmao! luck you! Were the prompts the same too? And is this usual??

Nope, the essay prompt was different. The essay had a different form code.

I couldn’t believe it was the same. I thought the form code looked kind of familiar before the actual test started.

well, I’m happy for you :). Maybe I’ll get lucky too on september! Hopefully ACT gets lazy again.

@082349 your so lucky! I took the test in april this year, retaking it in september. I hope i get lucky! On a side note, im so happy my thread is so popular! Haha

English–easy. My eraser was awful though, so I’m scared that the one answer I correctly changed is going to mess up when being scored. Let’s hope not.

Math–eh. I can’t really say one way or another, because no matter how I feel about it, I get a 27. Every. Time.

Reading–better than normal! The last passage of every section stresses me out, so I’m sure I missed some…but other than that, pretty confident!

Science–kill me. That’s the hardest science I’ve taken, but hopefully I did okay even though I feel like I didn’t. Who knows.

I hope I at least got a 30, but I would be ECSTATIC for a 31.

@sjc2012: For science, the first time I took the ACT, I felt I did horrible and I only got a couple wrong!! So it’s definitely possible to get a surprise-good score. [And just to contrast, the second time I thought I did better and I did a lot worse. But that’s just my experiences].

bsmith72 – I hope that’s the case! It was for one of the practice tests I took! I know there’s no way I did worse than the first time I took the test, because I honestly had no strategy or time management that time around and it was awful.

Just a little side note since the forum doesn’t seem to be that busy, I used to have no strategy too. The first two times I didn’t read the passages because I thought that would make me go quicker. But this time I actually read the passages [like you’re supposed to, heh].

But a general strategy is to have a watch and allow yourself 5 minutes per section. I also like underlining A LOT, which I think helps, especially in the “arguing scientists” section [underlining differences/similarities].

Well, I DID have strategy this time that worked for all my prior practice tests. I allotted the passages with 5 questions 4 minutes, 6 questions 5 minutes, and that dumb 7 question passage 6 minutes. I was pretty confident in every section except for the opposing viewpoints one. I always hate that one, but today it completely owned me.

Oh, I like that. I would probably use that, but I’m definitely never taking the ACT again. And I thought the opposing one was really hard because I barely remembered it, and I took Physics. I think if you didn’t discuss it in a class, it was really hard to understand because they literally shoved 6+ concepts in there.

Yeah. After seeing the opposing viewpoints my first thought was how glad I was I took physics this year (and how bad I felt for my friends who didn’t). And even then the notation threw me for a loop.
So used to U for PEg.

Yeah, it’s worked very well for me! …But not so much today because a few questions threw me for a loop, and that second to last passage might as well have been in a different language. Too bad I’m taking physics THIS year…

And you’re lucky. I think I’ll end up taking another stab at in come september, but after that I’m done, regardless of my score…because it’s college application time!

This should be the real discussion thread.

I was so flustered during the science portion! I hope I get at least a 30

I found the science section to be much more difficult compared to the April test (27 score).
Reading seemed easier, math about the same and the essay prompt was not difficult.

Hey is anyone familiar with this supposed “hack” to find your ACT scores? It is not really a hack but it allows you to view your scores when your status changes from “Registered” to “Tested” on the ACT site. This thread is from 2008; does anyone know if this thing still works?

It is highlighted in post #57:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/527084-scores-up-4.html?highlight=english+curve</a></p>

^ idk abt this “hack” but I don’t think the ACT ppl would be too happy abt it. Just sit tight lol, June 27th will come soon enough.

Once youre “tested” your scores are on the website, so I don’t see why you can’t view them in a week. I dont like the wait

@nina1228, that’s the first time I’ve heard of a hack. I suppose it won’t do any damage to anyone but would ACT do something to your scores as a consequence if they find out?
