ACT June testers

Well I hope they are accurate because that would put me at a 35 for tomorrow! I feel like a 35 is still unlikely, but I’m going to hope for at least a 34.

yeah, they are usually a good indicator-- but science really varies. I took a state mandated ACT and the science was horrible (got a 28… normally get 33-36 in red book)

I might be paranoid…I’ve prepared like crazy for this test and still feel as if my score is going to decline.

This question is directed towards people who consistently get 33 or higher on the Reading section of the ACT…How long do you guys spend on reading each passage? 2 minutes?

@raza I haven’t done much practice in the 1296 Math section. Honestly, I don’t know how accurately it reflects the ACT math. I do know, however, that the McGraw-Hill 10 ACT book’s math is quite accurate.

Is the essay writing seperate from the other 4 tests? Does the proctor collect the scantron form for the other 4 tests before we get the essay topic, or is the essay in the same answer document?

@darkmagician220-thanks
@VT2015-I spend about 3 minutes and I actually work backwards- starting from the science passage.

@ ifail

The essay topic and answer sheet are both separate from the 4 core sections/answer sheets of the test.

darkmagician220,

Are you sure that the McGraw Hill 10 ACT Tests book is accurate? I received consistent 34 and 35s with a decent reading score, but received a 33 on the real ACT with a 28 on reading.

You may categorize the English and Math as accurate, but for the reading and science, they, in my opinion, are slightly easier.

@Imike Some say the Math is easier, but I thought McGraw-Hill’s math is relatively accurate. It might be true that the reading is easier but I definitely agree that the science is easier. We do have to consider that the scoring sheet in the McGraw-Hill is not accurate as it uses a formula rather than a chart.

Good luck today!

You want differential equations?! Son, YOU CAN’T HANDLE DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS!!!

I took it already so I’m not going to say anything about it until later.

This is my first post!

I just got done taking the test with writing. Did any one else not finish the math section?

The essay was pretty easy and general in my opinion.

^me -_____-
10 char

The math was easy, but took wayyy too much time

@benjaminfranklin

did you end up finishing it then?

My son said he didn’t finish any of the sections. Reading was the worst. He said there were four passages and he only had time to read two. It was his first time taking the ACT and he’ll be a junior.

I didn’t finish math (got through it but had to guess on 4 that I skipped), though I think it was mainly because I didn’t prep for the ACT and thus haven’t looked at any of the trig that was needed for a while.

I finished everything with a little bit of time left over to check my answers. I’m pretty confident that I did well and I’m going to keep my fingers crossed for a 34+!
