ACT Kaplan Class

My mom is willing to invest 1000 for the Kaplan ACT class, but is it really going to help me increase my 19 ACT score. Please inform me, thanks!

IMO, not really. I took the class this past spring and I found it to be a complete waste of time. It was the instructor telling me strategies that I knew before or telling me strategies that were too time consuming to do (especially for the reading). After 10 weeks of the class, I took my ACT the week after and my scores only improved a point. The only thing i found useful was taking the practice tests every other week as it gave me other chances to practice. If I were you tell your mom to save that 1000 dollars and invest in some good review books. I recommend Barrons Act 36 and both books from the Princeton Review (“Cracking” and 1296) as well as the official ACT book. 10 Practice Tests from McGraw Hill aren’t bad either (beware of the Reading and Science sections as they are easier than the real ACT). Throughout the my weeks in the class, it seems like it was designed for people scoring in the “teens” trying to score in the low twenties. Even though you have a 19, i feel like Kaplan wouldn’t help you as much as just practicing the material and its especially not worth 1000 dollars. If you are trying to get a high ACT score this is not the class for you. Just buy some Prep books with lots of practice tests and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Carefully exam your mistakes and learn from them so you won’t make the same mistakes again. You will do just fine on the ACT without the Kaplan class.

Thank you, I have the book right now "Cracking the ACT"The Princeton Review and it is very helpful. Thank you once again. God bless you.
