Okay, so I got a 34 on the math section of the ACT and I need some help. Obviously, I’m thrilled over getting a 34 on math, but I really, really want a perfect score on this section because I plan on majoring in math. I took the June 2016 ACT math section and got a 34. I then spent about 3 weeks studying the ACT math section alone. I then took the September 2016 ACT and got another 34 on the math. How can I move my 34 up to a 36? Should I just keep retaking until I get lucky, or is there some sort of method I should be following? Thanks.
Practice with old tests written by the test maker. Do a thorough review of each one after finishing it - at least 30 minutes. Don’t finish the review until you thoroughly understand every question.
Each time I take a practice test, I review my mistakes. I learn from each mistake, but on the very next test, I make a completely different mistake. I constantly miss 2 or 3 questions on each test I take, and I always think back on how dumb the mistakes were. My practice tests are always either 34s or 35s, and I only scored a 36 once (because of a very generous curve and a bit of luck). I’ll keep practicing, but I feel that I’m just cursed to make 2 dumb mistakes on every test I take.
I’d suggest going over all the questions you’ve gotten wrong on previous tests - maybe that will help a little
