ACT math is the hardest thing i have ever seen in my entire life.

ok, i do fine on the SAT math (usually 650-700)...

but the ACT math is so different! Do any of you have any tricks or tips on how to score better?

also, what are some good books to review? I have the Real ACT book as well as this McGraw Hill ACT math book I just picked up.

The ACT is fundamentally different in that it tests your knowledge, not your reasoning. On my exam, there was a question about matrices which I missed because we hadn't covered that topic in pre-cal yet. There's really not much that you can do but review and practice the math that you're rusty in from algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. You don't have to worry about seeing any calc on there or anything. Those books you've got there sound good - I'd also suggest printing out a genuine practice test from their website.

You didn't cover that topic in precal yet? That's chapter 1 man! What kind of teacher do you have?

Because all pre-cal classes use the same book and all pre-cal teachers cover topics in the same order, right?

I could really care less what you think of my or my teacher's abilities; I'm quite satisfied with my 33 on the math. Anyway, that doesn't really have anything to do with this thread, so you could strive to be less obnoxious next time.

um matrices is algebra 2, not precalc.

btw if you think ACT math is the hardest you haven't done much in life =)

jk.

good luck tho

Learn to use a Ti-83 calc it can really help you if you know what you are doing. I couldn't solve a matrix to save my life but I know how to plug it in into my calc and it will spit the answer at me in a second. Also there are systems which can take some time to solve but if you graph the two lines and find the intersect on your calculator you can avoid having to do the work.

ACT math is the easiest math out there man
i took it twice and got a 36 both times...sooooo easy.now if ur talking about the reading and science then yes that is hard
i scored miserable on those with a 31 and 34 on reading and a 33 and 34 on science awful

^ lol.. =P

guess C on all of them and your gauranteed a 14! :)

Just practice the math from those books and completely ignore Narcissa and foryourownpride, because they obviously can't read that your asking for help not their opinions.

WOWOWOWOWOWW im completely opposite of u... ACT math=easiest thing my life has ever seen.. SAT math makes it so complex with the gay style of language they used.... i wasted my time studying for SAT now im considering taking both ACT and SAT June 7th SAT and June 14th ACT.... by the way jedi mind tricks is the illest rap group alive representin PHILLY SOUTHSIDE!! VINNIE PAZ IS THE ILLEST POET.. anyways how is ACT math hard for you? is it a problem with remembering certain formulas or rules u learned in school- because the style of language they use is straightforward... well just figure out a direct problem cuz ur question is to vague we gotta know what questions u keep messin up on..

by the way, matrices is a pattern seeking math... i learned that shiit in grade 7 LOL... all u need to remember is which side is positive(left to right diagnol) and the correspondin negatives and how each column/row is organized into an equation... its a very very old style of math and is still used in computational sciences i think... im not sure i dont like IT/CS...

Remember, u dont need to prove any math, just memorize and know how to apply the formula screw where it came from and why its used.... remember that throughout high school and ull score high in math classes... know how to use it but never ask why until ur 2nd year university provin theories

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol narcissa is angry lol.... hey its true thats what high school is all about... im gettin 100% in math cuz i can pretty much apply the concept and prove it when the time comes... that being in university.

Hope you contract herpes too.

ACT math is a lot easier for me than SAT. SAT I score between 650-700 but on the act 31-33 usually
