On all of my ACT’s taken, my Math score ranges from a 28-29. I have no problem with the first 40 questions, but the next 20 are hell for me (for the most part).
I ordered the Barron’s SAT Subject Test Math Level 2 book today… Will this book be enough for me to boost that score?
Maybe, but keep in mind that the ACT math section and the SAT Math II test do not cover the same material! The ACT covers up to Algebra 2, whereas the SAT Math II test covers precalculus. I’d recommend either getting an ACT math book in addition or reviewing the ACT math concepts separately and taking practice sections.
If you struggle with timing, the SAT book won’t help you much.
What book would you suggest for math then, @awesomepolyglot ?? I am currently reading Barron’s ACT 36’s math section, and it does not seem THAT helpful…
That’s what I had :-S I didn’t read very much, though!
Reading the book was the only studying I actually did specifically for the ACT math section; however, I use Khan Academy a LOT. I’d recommend going through some of the more analytic parts of Geometry, most of Algebra 2, parts of Trigonometry, and (probably) the Matrices section in Precalculus.
And get SUPER familiar with your calculator! I can do almost everything I need (for the ACT, at least) in under a minute with my calculator. I can PM you some tips for that, if you want.
@awesomepolyglot If you can, that would be great! Thanks so much!
