ACT No writing component vs. ACT w/ writing component

<p>a better question may be, what is the benefit/why would anyone take the ACT WITHOUT the writing component</p>

<p>The essay portion may lower their scores down, and also not ALL colleges look for essay scores. Many ppl here on CC had got 30+'s and got a 6 or a 7 on the essay.</p>

<p>yes, and most top schools also expect at least two SAT subject tests</p>
