I put matter-of-fact and whatever the other word was.

Also does anyone remember what they put about what can be inferred about airplanes? I said that they were unsafe or something along those lines.

i put straight forward and self-critical because he is evaluating both the pros and cons of his journey to where he eventually wound up.

the airplanes one was something about the fact that they were seen as a luxury i believe

I also put that airplanes were unsafe or whatever. None of the other choices really fit like cars being “commercially viable as airplanes”.

what was the airplane question? I am totally blank. was it about the Ford passage?

For airplanes, I think that I put because they were seen as a novelty.

i put novelty for the airplanes
…no joke that double passages about the female authors was an abomination…

but which passage was the airplane question about?

the ford passage

I put novelty as well

Was the purpose of the last paragraph in the ford passage to show how cars weren’t viewed as toys anymore?

the last paragraph was to show how cars experienced difficulties on their path to become the most popular form of transportation… i think

I forgot everything

Ford one… one question referred to racing. I answered something along the lines of “manufacturers emphasized making fast cars instead of good cars” or something… anyone remember?

@triassiic: I put both of those answers as well.

heres the last paragraph , i think…was it that cars experienced difficulties on their path to become the most popular form of transportation, or to show how cars weren’t viewed as toys anymore???

It might be thought something of a step, for I had no personal funds. What money was left over from living was all used in experimenting. But my wife agreed that the automobile could not be given up – that we had to make or break. There was no demand from automobiles – there never is for a new article. They were accepted in much the same fashion as was more recently the airplane. At first the horseless carriage was considered merely a freak notion and then he wants people explained with particularity why it could never be more than a toy. No man of money even thought of it as a commercial possibility. I cannot imagine why each new means of transportation meet with such opposition. There are even those today and shake their heads and talk about the luxury of the automobile and only grudgingly admit that perhaps the motor truck is of some use. But in the beginning there was hardly anyone who sensed that the automobile could be a large factor in industry. The most optimistic hoped only for the development akin to that of the bicycle. When it was found that an automobile really could go and several makers started to put out cards, the immediate query was as to which would go fastest. It was a curious but natural development – that raising idea. I never thought anything of racing, but the public refuse to consider the automobile it any light other than as a fast toy. Therefore later we had to race. The industry was held back by this initial racing slant, for the attention of the makers was diverted to making fast rather than good cars. It was a business for speculators.

It was the explanation of how the car struggled.

and the answer was that Yes, the car struggled in that manufacturers were producing fast cars rather than “Good” cars. For some reason i distinctly remember the “good” part.

What is an “article”? A product? Thats what I put

please add or correct…

What does “article” most nearly mean? A product.

What was the tone of Ford? Matter of fact and self confident

Why did Ford refer to his past car making as “petty”? something along the lines of because he wanted to produce cars systematically. (did it have mechanical in its answer???)

Who said the quote? The president of the company

What was the question on the police? Was it something to do with the speed limit?

Question about him keeping the car making it an expensive hobby (what was this?)

What can be inferred about airplanes? They were seen as a luxury/novelty? (It didn’t mention anything about them being unsafe.

What was the purpose of the last paragraph? To show how cars struggled

question referred to racing. something along the lines of "manufacturers emphasized making fast cars instead of good cars
10.

Nevermind, the answer was novelty. I didn’t know the exact definition. :(

For the who said the quote. I thought it was his father. Because he said he still remembers him saying it. Anybody know???
