ACT of 23, 24 admitted to TCU

My daughter applied and was admitted to TCU last year (she ended up going somewhere else) but since people are always wanting to know what kind of scores will get you in a particular school, I found it interesting that two students who just graduated high school and are going to TCU in the Fall of 2014 were admitted to TCU with the following stats:
1) ACT-23 GPA 3.5
2) ACT-24 GPA 3.7
I doubt that either of them received any kind of financial aid--Just thought this would be interesting to some students who may be thinking of applying.

Per the common data set it says the 50% range for SAT is 540-620 CR 550-640 M so that equates to a 24-28 on the ACT. Hope that helps.

I also came across another student admitted for the Fall of 2014 with a 22 ACT but with a high GPA and in the top 15% of her class.

The person who I know is there had a 2090 on his SAT and a 4.4 weighted GPA. He was admitted to the Honors College, lives in Milton and has a hefty merit scholarship.

Every school has a few kids with low stats who get in. I know kids with mid 20s on their ACTs who got into UCLA, kids with 1800s on their SAT who got into USC and UC Berkeley and on and on. The low stats listed above mean nothing in the big picture.

Yes, I realize that there are LOTS of smart kids at TCU (hey I went there!) but I had never seen ACT scores like this go there. I see a pile of resumes every year and all the kids going to TCU this year from this city have these scores, which surprised me. I just didn’t think a 22 or even 23 would get you in.
