Just wondering if anyone here has taken the official ACT online prep course offered by The ACT? Is it worth the $21.95? DD has the Red Book but has yet to look at it and the last time she took the ACT was as a 7th grader. She will be taking the ACT in Feb. and is a junior. She took the Plan test at school last year and it predicted she could score a 32-35 if she takes the ACT but it had no essay. She was also taking pre-calc trig at the time so I think that helped her math score.
Suggestions? Experience?

The value of the Online ACT course is in the two practice tests that are part of the subscription. The rest is useless. I would recommend starting with the Real ACT Guide that has the five practice tests, then do the following free old official practice tests released by ACT. See this prior post I wrote: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/1578135-official-act-practice-tests-complete-list-public-tests.html. This would be a total of 9 practice tests. If she needs more practice, then go ahead and subscribe to the ACT Online Prep.

Trying to find an online ACT prep course that’s worth the money. Found some positive things about Edsortium, but can’t find any extensive reviews on the course. Please share if you have any knowledge/experience with Edsortium. Thanks!

I thought the online ACT prep course was a waste. The course didn’t seem well made to me and i did noticeably worse on the online test then i did on practice tests on paper (34-35 on paper to 31). This is, of course, my personal biased opinion and could be due to the fact i am a big advocate of crossing out answers i know are wrong which i can do better on a paper test than on an test on my laptop screen. I did however get the course for free from my school so it might be worth a visit to your media center technician or guidance counselor to see if they do the same. As is always the case in life, you cant go wrong with something so long as its free!

Does anyone know if the two online prep tests are old exams? If so, any idea of what the form codes are for the two tests?

The two online prep tests are different from any of the previously administered ACT tests. They don’t have any form codes.

I agree that it is difficult to do the things that one could do on a paper test. But it is likely that ACT will become computerized and follow the format of the online ACT practice tests.

Is there any way to print out the on-line test so that it becomes a paper test? For the SAT on-line, printing the tests out onto paper was possible. We might get the on-line act for the tests. We r basically in same boat as Op, but no PLAN was available. We r in SAT part of country.

Not really, it displays the questions individually and it would be too time consuming to print each question individually and create a test. The best option is to just take the test and fill in the answers on the screen itself. This way it scores the test as well.

You cannot print out the test, but you can bubble in the answers on the sheet.
