hello
So im an incoming senior in high school and I've take the SAT twice already and im not contempt about what i got (1590 was the highest). I studied alot and there seems to be no improvement :/. Now I'm thinking/already studying for the ACT because I'm fed up with the sat and believe it will stay the same. Is this a bad decision if i havent taken the act at all?!? I had a 4.0/3.87 gpa my junior year and took 3 ap classes junior year and 1 ap class somphmore year. And I am planning to take 3 more ap classes and 1 IB class for my upcoming senior year. I'm also very involved in the community and school with over 100 + community service hours Would a sat score like what i have help in my chances (long shot) UCSD, UCSB, UCD or UCI? Or would a ACT score of 24-26 be better to turn in?

Is the 1590 all 3 parts?

If you would read the last sentence of his paragraph, you would see that he is aiming for a 24-26 on the ACT. The 1590 probably includes the writing component.

Anyways Take the ACT. Your SAT roughly converts to a 22 on ACT. This isn’t very competitive for most colleges in the US. Getting 26+ would be much better.

A 1590 CR+M is nearly perfect, so yes. Check out the ACT and see if you like the different format.

That awkward moment when people mistake a low SAT score for just two sections.

ACT and SAT are very different. SAT focuses more on critical thinking. ACT is about direct knowledge at a very fast pace.

I see no harm in trying it. My friend earned about a 1550 on the SAT, then on the ACT she got a 24 (that was with a crappy math score because she forgot her calculator and was unaware that you’re not penalized for guessing on the ACT like you are on the SAT). I know another guy who got a 1000 on his SAT and a 27 on the ACT.

Give it a shot!
