Not sure if these test are even different in math, but i have a very very hard time with math, my entire life, im very well written and spoken when i want to be, so for a test it wouldnt be a problem, but if IM HORRIBLE at math, would there be a preferred test for me to take?? Where maybe the math mite be easier or something along those lines?? i just don't know weather i should take the ACT or SAT. anyone know if one of those tests would be better for me? all i need is atleast a 1020 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT to get the grant i want from the school i plan on going to. so any advise would greatly help! thank you.

I don’t know if one is actually easier than the other but I would try both if you can afford it.

Take both. Schools will accept whichever is higher.

Some say that math on the ACT is easier, because it’s less tricky. Plus, math is only one of 4 areas on the ACT, while math is half of the SAT when only Math and CR are considered for grants/scholarships.

Before you take the ACT, look at some science reasoning practice questions.

I took both within the past two months, and I’d say the ACT math was probably easier. However, I personally prefer the SAT because Science on the ACT kills my score. When you say you need a 21 on the ACT, do you mean in Math or Composite? If composite, take the ACT. Math is only 25% of your composite, so the others can give it a boost. On the SAT, Math is worth much more, regardless of whether the college is considering writing.

21 total composite. the math means nothing really, as long as i score a 21, but i have never taken the ACT before, so i dont even know what a 21 is, is that a super high score? what is the max score you can get on the ACT? what kind of scores do you see the “average joe” getting on the ACT’s these days? I am definitely doing to buy a ACT study book and take some sample tests, me getting a 21 or higher on this is weather or not 12,000$ will be getting knocked off my college tuition.

if you good in writing then you will excel in reading and english section so hypotheticly you could get a 24 english, 24 reading, 17 science, 17 math= 21

btw to get a 17 on the act math you need to answer about 22/60 questions which is very very easy to do.

but i have never taken the ACT before, so i dont even know what a 21 is, is that a super high score?

NO, a 21 is not a high score. It’s kind of a lowish score. The top ACT score is a 36.

ACT 21 is the 55 percentile. So, not hard to achieve, if you’re a decent student.

Get an ACT practice book and do some of the sections, especially the science reasoning (which isn’t really “science”). The ACT website might have some practice questions online.

great! these have all been very helpful! now one last question. if: 24 english, 24 reading, 17 science, 17 math = 21 … what is the HIGHEST score you can obtain in each category alone? 36 36 36 36? or hows that work. just wondering! thanks.

Yes…the highest score in each section is a 36.

when you average for the composite… if the average is 20.5, that is bumped to 21. But if the average is 20.25, then
