ACT or SAT to Yale?

Since Yale gives applicants the option of sending the SAT plus two subject tests or the ACT I'm unsure of which test I should send...

My standardized test scores aren't stellar to begin with, so I need to make a, dare i say, STRATEGIC decision lol

well anyhow, here they are:

SAT I: 2030

Subject Tests:
US History-640
Math 1-660
Spanish-710

ACT: 30
pretty much the same as the SAT if converted but I got an awful 24 on the Science portion!!
OUCH
But then aain, my subject test scores aren't very good either.

This isn't a chance thread and YES, I know that my scores aren't amazing.
First-generation college student status may help a bit but I know it will still
be a huge reach.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Thanks

What’s your SAT breakdown by section? Are you a math/sci/engineering person or are you stronger in the humanities/social sciences?

I’m deffinately going for humanities.

I want to major in Classical Civilizations/ Classics.

My SAT breakdown is as follows:

CR: 650
Math: 670
Writing: 710 w/ 11 essay

My ACT breakdown is:

English: 34
Math: 28
Science: 24
Reading 32

I haven’t recieved my essay score yet since I took the October ACT.

I looked at a couple of conversion charts, they showed that a 30 ACT =

1320-1350 (CR+M) or 1980 total

1330-1350

Since your 1320 SAT CR+M is at the lower end of the ranges given, I’d say go with the ACT. Also, your 34 & 32 in Reading and English are stronger than your 650 CR. And I don’ think you’re losing anything by not submitting your Subject test scores.

Thank you entomom!
I’ll take your advice.
: )

You’re welcome, good luck!
