Hi, I am wondering which test should i take. i know many colleges require some specific test or it's optional. but some colleges say that if you take the ACT, you dont need to take the SATII subject tests. which colleges say this? Plus, does the IVY league need SATII scores besides ACT scores?

You need to be more specific. It all depends on the college and what they want. They tell you on their websites, usually under the heading "admissions requirements".

One major distinction is how well you like, or do, in science - if you do well in scince, you should at least try the ACT once.

p.s. in answer to your other question, most schools who require SAT 2's, will will take the ACT (alone) in lieu of SAT1 plus SAT 2's

that is becoming less and less common. most top college will want the act or sat and 2-3 sat2's. if you want to be safe at all colleges, id take 3 sat2's and either the act or sat.

I believe yale is the only exception in that they require the sat and 3 sat2s or just the act.

Actually, I find that science part of the SAT isn't so much about your knowledge/liking of science as it is about your ability to analyze data and graphs really well. I guess if you're good at science, though, then you're also good at that, so... hmm.

The main difference I find between the two is that the ACT math is harder, but more straightforward math, while the SAT math is really just interpreting complicated word problems and other little problem-solvey type things. Usually if you're good at math, you do better on ACT math. I also find the ACT essay prompts to be easier to write about - not that that improves my score at all, but it's still nice.

Anyways, I would take a practice test of each and see which one you do better on. I've heard that the majority do about the same, though.

Yeah, just look up the schools. My daughter applied to Brown, Penn, Yale, Chicago, WUSTL, and UNC-CH and didn't need SAT IIs.

really? so ACT in lieu of SATI and SATII Subject Tests?

This is the case at most schools. However, be sure to check the requirements of colleges at which you wish to apply to be sure.

yes, i know that. but i never knew it applied for brown and upenn and yale

Does anyone think AP micro and macro, statistics can help with reading graphs and data in the science section?
