Act or sat

I want to go to Stanford University. Bottom line. However, I heard that most people get into high colleges by taking the ACT and getting a high score of those, without needing to take a SAT Subject. However, SAT is changing in 2015 and confused me on taking it or not. I am not planning to take it next year because if I study for two tests, I know I will get average on both of them. If I focus my time on one, I can probably get a 30+. What are some good books for the ACT for 2013-2014? Should I take the ACT WITH the SAT Subject tests to increase my chances? (However, I know that I will FAIL the tests!)

I already bought the RED BOOK for the ACT and the Princeton Review. Is the Barron's necessary to test, or will it be enough?

Thank you.

No no no, take an SCT. Going through highschool without taking an SCT would be dumb. I definitely think the SCT is the preferred by Stan

Try both at least in practice tests to see which one you would do better. Then you may focus on one or take both. I really don’t see a problem in preparing for both over the Summer. What grade are you? You can submit ACT with SAT2 if your ACT is better than SAT1. Unless you are already getting near perfect score, you likely need more than a couple prep books if you are aiming for Stanford.
