I've taken the SATs only once. I did okay, but I'm trying to get into schools that need much higher scores.

Everyone keeps on telling me I'd do much better with the ACTs. What is the differences? And how do the scores of the SAT compare to the scores of the ACT. Which test is better for which type of test taker?

Thanks in advance for any input!

p.s.
I'm a rising senior.
CURRENT SAT scores:
CR: 620
M: 610
W:690
Total: 1920
I WILL be taking the SATs again in October, and I'll take the ACTs too.

Conversion chart: [Estimated Relationship between ACT Composite Score and SAT CR+M+W Score](http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/estimate.html)

ACT is more achievement-based, whereas the SAT is more aptitude-based. You should try both tests and see how you do comparatively.

can it really hurt to take both? i know a lot of people who did a lot better on the acts. i did about the same on both. i know a few people who did a lot better on the sats. so it really just depends on you, and it can’t hurt to try once and see.

Well the obvious thing to do would be to take an ACT practice test and see how it compares to that SAT score, but then again not everybody can think of things like that like I can.
