ACT Oracle Error HELP!

If the scores do change it problem means a bigger problem than just some scores on showing up, since we have clearly established that some people’s current composite does not equal the visible scores. It would likely mean that their data is potentially scrambled, which might explain why it’s taking so long to solve. If it was just a display issue or a call to a field, it should have been quick to solve. Unless they have a fix but are waiting until late night to push it to avoid taking the site down during popular hours.

@civtas Either reason for it taking so long is upsetting and really unacceptable.

@wrenwu You are my spirit animal today. Yes, upsetting and unacceptable.

I start thinking worst-case scenario - that somehow these scores have been compromised and will be invalidated… (I have got to occupy myself with something else until this is resolved, but find myself checking ACT’s Twitter/FB/Insta for intel!)

Some people don’t want it to change and some people want it to change. Me personally I got a 31 on English and 29 on math. My other two scores aren’t showing and I got a composite of 26. That would be the case if I scored lower than a 23 on reading and 23 on science and I highly doubt it because those two scores were from my previous act test. I highly doubt I got lower than that and if I did I would want a free multiple choice copy of my answers to confirm it. This is just a stressing process and I hope everyone just get what they deserve

interesting question a student just posted on Instagram: Should students who are seeing an error message question the validity of their scores. Seems to me if ACT were having a system-wide data jumble problem, they would need to tell EVERYONE to wait on their scores. Not just those with an error on the screen. Like the previous poster, I’m just trying to keep myself busy until this is resolved. Anxiety is contagious.

^ oops… should students who are NOT seeing an error message question the validity…

Me too! My daughter keeps texting me from school and I’m trying to convey a “no big deal - it will be resolved soon” attitude, but it’s getting harder as the day goes on. I wish I had an answer for her. Obviously calling CS did not clear anything up! Where is your daughter interested in going to school??

all the big schools. good act important to be noticed. she will be over the moon if this composite is true. it is 2 points higher than her best - yet she did work super hard to earn it - practice tests every Sunday, etc.

If they don’t resolve it today/tonight, it substantially increases the odds they have a larger data problem than just scores not showing that might affect everyone’s results. That still wouldn’t necessarily mean the tests don’t have valid scores, just that the data fields may be scrambled. Presumably worst case they have the physical tests that could fall back on to re-score if they couldn’t resolve it. Still, for now just as likely they are waiting to off-peak hours before pushing a site revision. That’s industry best practice. And it’s also pretty typical that tech doesn’t talk to customer service so they would have no idea if there’ already a decision not to push until middle of the night.

Is there any report from anyone who can see the entire listing of 4 scores?

my son told me that he and his friends figured out that the error is only occurring with students who did the WRITING section. Anyone else corroborate that?

@contdes I wondered the same thing. But what are the odds someone in that position would even know there’s a problem and stumble across this forum post? Unless someone here has a friend with all their scores.

I have twins (but my son isn’t anxious!)

@mommabear5 Interesting observation.

True in my daughter’s case, as she did writing and has scoring issues. And, if the two parts plus composite shown are correct, the two missing sub-scores would each be significantly below what was hte ACT Plan test predicted for my daughter.

@mommabear5 hmm, my son did the writing section and we can’t see the science score.

True here…daughter took with writing and has Oracle error message.

To a previous poster - my daughter took the ACT w/ Writing. And her science score is obscured on the display w/ the “Oracle” error.

UPDATE: Talked to Sean at ACT. He said “The upload is correct. The scores are there, you just can’t see them all. The composite score will not change.”

He also said they are “working on a fix” and it “should be fixed” by tonight, or at the latest tomorrow morning.

I took notes!

@mommabear5 My friend who didn’t take the writing section got all 4 scores, but my other friend who didn’t take the writing section also is missing two: his reading and science score. So I feel like they messed up both with writing or without writing.

My score came up with four sections!!!
