ACT panic

I live in a region where most students only take the SAT, but my dream school is in a different region so I've decided to take the ACT. The best available test date for me is a month away, and I have done nothing significant to prepare myself. I am very strong with writing/reading, but I need to know what specifically to study for the math and science portions in such a short period of time?

Have you taken the SAT yet?

Science is very similar to reading tests. It hardly tests your knowledge of science but more so just reading sets of data and charts and graphs and then answering the questions.

There are many different resources you can use. Try getting one of those act prep books and really get into it. Take some timed practice sessions.

Do a search on CC for ACT study guides. People have written study guide tips to follow
For math, study circles, triangles, trig.

It does not matter which test you take for any school. Just take the one you perform better and feel more comfortable with.

Science is easy. I got a 33 with no prep and a 34 by just doing one practice test a week. Don’t stress. You got this!

The science section is hit or miss. I got a 800 on SAT Chem, but a 26 on ACT Science. The best way to prepare for ACT Science is to practice reading graphs and interpreting data quickly.

The science section is really a reading text hidden behind scientific jargon, graphs, and charts. This is the one section where I recommend that you read the questions first and then search the passage for the answer.
