ACT Practice Test Question

I am taking the official ACT practice test, and I don't understand why the following is correct (English, question 69):

In still other parts of Japan, this shining trio appears in the center of an hourglass-shaped drum, a tsuzumi.

[ul]
[] A. NO CHANGE
[] B. In Japan’s imagination, this
[] C. In Japan, this
[] D. This
[/ul]

According to the mark scheme, answer A is correct. Doesn't that sound awkward?

It depends on the passage.

For example, if the passage mentioned other parts of Japan earlier, than A is right. If Japan is used in general, then D would work. If other countries are involved then C is the right answer

The English section question requires the taker to understand the passage too. Next time, read carefully

If u need more help, just PM me after the 19th

It does sound awkward! The still makes it sound weird.
But the only way I can explain it is process of elimination!
The passage was talking about how the starts are viewed differently on different parts of the world and none of the other choices mention a part of Japan, just Japan in general and That didn’t match up with the fact that they said its different everywhere. And how they listed 2 example of specifics and now are just making it one.
This was my thinking
I am also working on this test
Hope it helped
