ACT Prep Books

I’ll be taking the ACT this September and I’m buying some prep books. I’ve taken a practice test and scored a 32 (the science and critical reading are bringing me down). Have any of you tried the “5 lb Book of ACT Practice Problems” and know if it’s any good? Does it mimic problems on the test? Also, I have the “old” Real ACT red book, and I’m probably going to buy the 2016-2017 one too. Let me know if there are any other books that would be helpful, I need a 35 or 36 on the actual exam. Thanks!

Definitely check out “ACT Prep Black Book” by Mike Barrett. I found it to be very helpful.

@KateHBag I happen to have that book (but haven’t opened it yet lol). I didn’t know whether it was worth it, so thanks!

No problem! He offers a lot good advice that I couldn’t find in other prep books and does a lot of walk-throughs from the red book. For me, it was the only book that I really needed :slight_smile:

I have used the 5 lb practice problems. Although I did not get to do every single problem, it mimics the test. Seeing how many questions they have over just a specific topic, if you actually finish all 5 lbs of it you should be set for anything that comes your way.

@shazi453 thanks!
