ACT Prep classes

My son is going to take a prep class before the June ACT. The school gave us information about a program offered by collegereview.org. Has anyone take an ACT prep class through them and can give us a review? This is the 6 week class that meets once a week for 3 hours. He will prep some on his own but I am thinking he'll be more disciplined going to a class. At home he is too worried about who is texting him. The class finishes a few days before the June test date.

Am I right in assuming most on CC prep on their own? If so, do you develop a prep schedule? If DS is taking the June 12th ACT, should he start preparing now? Is it okay to wait until the month before? Anyone care to share their prep schedule?

Prep classes are a huge waste of time and money if your son has any self-motivation at all. A CC class in number theory/discrete math/grammar and comp (depending on where his weakness is) will do so much more for his score than Kaplan or Huntington or something like that.
