Act prep!!!!!!!!!

I'm a sophomore in high school and am wondering whether i should take the ACT or not. How is it compared to the SAT and what is the basic structure of it. someone please help!!!

Really depends on your school, some freely offer ACT while others SAT. As many said ( just read on another thread), those West and East coast tend to take the SAT while mid-west etc… ACT.
Structure of the tests:[ACT vs. SAT](http://www.kaptest.com/College/SAT/Learn-About-the-SAT/CO_satact.html)

From here I notice the ACT has overdone goemetry ( me myself never took geometry, nor plan to… surprise to see ACT loaded with geometry). Also surprise to see the SAT lack science.

It’s good that you are thinking about this now. You should know by now what kind of student you are, right? Many of the top colleges only accept SAT. So if you think you will be applying to Ivy Leagues and thing like that, I wouldn’t bother with ACT.

I am a “B+ kind-of-student” so my college choices reflect that. You will find that most colleges accept both ACT and SAT. I took both tests and decided which one I’m more likely to succeed with (ACT) and stuck to studying that test with Test-Prep books.

Good Luck

^ um i would like to know where u are getting that information from. I’ve not heard of a single college that does not accept ACT scores…so i do not know where you are getting that information from.

Stanford, for example, http://www.stanford.edu/dept/uga/pdf/08-09_Applying_Guide.pdf

accepts both scores.

Columbia, an ivy league school, I know accepts ACT for sure. With that said, you may still have to submit SAT subject tests with the ACT test too.

So, basically, ACT is STILL an option for you no matter what schools you are considering.

@ stevped, all colleges accept either the ACT or SAT. There used to be a preference with top colleges and the SAT but not anymore. You can take either one and it would be fine.

I stand corrected.

I was basing that info off of this link [Undergrad - BSchools](http://bwnt.businessweek.com/interactive_reports/undergrad_bschool/) when I saw N/A under the “AVG ACT score” column, I assumed that the school did not take ACT scores.

so what is on the ACT? and what books are good to prep for it?
