I know many of you say that in order to do better on this exam, you have to practice, because like the trite quotation says, "Practice makes Perfect." If any of you guys who have succeeded on this test (30+), would you then tell me:

1.How long before the actual exam did you start to practice?
2.How many times during the week would you practice? (If you did certain sections please tell me).
3.How much prep material did you use?
4.Your overall improvement.

Thanks, everyone.

Since no one is answering you I guess that I will give you my opinion. I received a 21 composite on my ACT the first time I took it. The next time I studied an hour right before I took the test that morining and increased my score by 4 points. I believe that if I would have took more time to study I could have dramatically increased my score. I'm sorry if this did not answer your question correctly. As you can see I am not one of those students who Succeeded on the ACT.

i took mine in june..but i didn't spend that much time practicing for it because i had heard it was easy (i never take my standardized tests seriously -__-;;...which would account for my never getting a perfect score on any subsection of the sat's nor my satiis)

so to answer your questions..

1.How long before the actual exam did you start to practice?

i borrowed an act panic plan from the school library a couple days before the test..it was meant for a week, but i never got through with the book...reading it was just a headache b/c the quality and style of the essays/readings were so...blah..(no offense if anyone happens to read this and has a job of writing these things)..the only thing that i could have studied for better was the science section...(i could barely get through it during the test)..i suggest studying more for the science than any other sections b/c honestly, it's just like the psats except easier (except for the science!! -__-;;)

2.How many times during the week would you practice? (If you did certain sections please tell me).

i didn't get to take any practice tests..just went through some of the problems in the book...alot of ppl are like that right? lazy..i mean.

3.How much prep material did you use?

peterson's act panic plan a couple of days before the test (i don't think it helped much though)

4.Your overall improvement.

eh...since i only took it once and i never took a full practice exam..i can't say for sure my improvement.. : /...sorry about that.

so overall..if you're comfy with the psats...then all the sections will be no problem except for science (i suggest you get used to the quality of the excerpts though)...
i didn't get to finish the science section when i took the acts in june....stupid graphs that make no sense --;;....it's more about how you interpret graphs rather than inherent knowledge..so just practice those! ^_^

btw..i got a 34 composite with 36 math/35 english/34 reading/30 science/33 combined english and writing (essay)

good luck!

Thanks a lot. Anyone else?
