ACT preparation

Hi, I am a student from India. After taking the SAT 3 times and not getting a good score, I realized that the SAT just isn't for me. So, I decided to take the ACT. I am taking it in June. I think I have enough time to prepare and I am preparing from 'The Real ACT Prep Guide.'

The SAT reading was never my thing. I always lost track of the passage and wasted a lot of time and always screwed it terribly. On the other hand when I was going through the red book of The ACT, I noticed that the questions do not specify the lines pertaining to the questions.
Not being an avid reader, I am scared that the reading section might doom me. It would be very kind of all of you to offer me some help regarding the reading section. Math and English on the other hand are my strong points. I have to get acquainted to the science section too, but I want to first master reading cause I have heard that Science and Reading are a little parallel.

Someone please help me.
It will be really appreciated.

I would advise getting one of the Kaplan or Princeton books- they helped me get a 36.
Tips:

 1. Make sure you don’t misread the question stem or answer choices. It’s very easy to misread a conjunction or adjective.
 2. Skim the passage. Read it how you would read a teen novel from the library- get into it, but don’t get caught in the details.
 3. Mark up the passage. Circle or bracket main ideas and places where the author’s voice stands out.
 4. Understand how the passage flows. Which paragraphs are supportive? Which expresses opposite views? Which is the introduction?
 5. Pay attention to facts vs. author’s opinion.
