On my transcript, I have the ACT tests recorded about 6 times. The score trend is inconsistent (30, 27, 28, 30, 29, 32 in that order). However, I requested ACT to delete some of these scores. My counselor already submitted the transcript, and the ACT scores have not been deleted off the transcript.
Would this look immoral in my case? How will admissions counselor view this? How should I notify admissions about my score deletions? I’m beginning to think I shouldn’t be applying to this school because I am afraid my standardized test score dilemma will be detrimental to my application.
I took it a lot of times to get the highest score I can get. I ended with a 33 this December, which I am pretty happy about. Any other opinions on this?
Ok, so if I understand you correctly, your ACT scores are on your HS transcript that your counselor sent in, but then you asked ACT to delete some of the scores, so the score report that Georgetown would get would have some of the scores missing.
(By the way, the scores you listed don’t include a 33)
So your concern is that Georgetown will find you taking the ACT 6 times to be a negative and possibly will find you in ‘violation’ of the “send us all your scores” policy for having the ACT delete some of them.
My take: if you do apply, you should email your regional admissions officer and explain the situation. That will take care of any concerns about the score choice issue.
As to how negatively taking the same test 6 times will be looked at… I don’t think that’s a question anyone can answer with 100% accuracy. Different admissions officers or members of the committee may look at it differently. Regardless, keep in mind that the number of times you took a test says nothing about your qualifications, how well you would do at Georgetown, what you could contribute to the community, etc. For that reason, any such ancillary factor will surely be less important than all the many various factors that do speak to those core questions.
Long story short, the chances of “how many times you took the ACT” being the deciding factor strikes me as being very low.
Georgetown requires applicants to submit the scores from every time they sat for a test (ACT, SAT, or SAT2) so don’t worry about submitting all six scores, it won’t negatively affect you.
