I took the ACT with writing a while back and received a 33, I took it without writing two weeks ago and I got a 35. Can I submit both scores so my writing part is included or did I screw myself over?
I asked the UC system and they will not take my 35. I would recommend that anyone else taking the ACT doesn’t skip the writing section. Skipping 40 minutes may have cost me a shot at UCLA/Berkeley.
Thank you for sharing that. If you really want to, you can try again, but 33 is an excellent score. You still have a shot.
So 2 things:
• Most colleges of that tier that request standardized tests request ACT with writing vs ACT without writing. Any student planning to apply for a particular college should review its testing requirements in advance.
• If you get rejected from UCLA/UCB, it will not be because of a 33, IMO.
Are you sure? I got a 33 with writing last time, and on the June one I got a 36 without writing. Can’t I submit both scores, so they have a writing score and my better composite score? Or does it not work that way.
Can you submit your ACT without Writing? Yes. You are physically able to send them. Will they consider that score? Well, they say no, so I’m taking the colleges at their word.
@skieurope should have checked but watchya gonna do right
The same thing happened to me. I still got into Berkeley despite having to send in my SAT 2300 instead of my ACT 36.
