Do colleges want the highest score in one sitting or your highest scores period? Also I know that many colleges overlook the writing score on the SAT I, but what about for the ACT? I actually got an 11 on the writing portion and am hoping that it would help me.

Highest scores in one sitting, I think their are only a few school who will take the best overall. I think the ACT essay is also overlooked, but the 11 may stand out

Majority rely on that test with highest composite. Minority take highest subscores from multiple tests. And a small number actually consider only your math and English subscores and ignore composite, reading and science (e.g., Rose-Hulman, Georgia Tech). If a college ignores the writing for the SAT it will also do so for the ACT, and if it considers the writing for the SAT it will also do so for the ACT.
