I just got my ACT scores back and I got a 35 composite and a 8 in writing. Should I take it again to try to improve my writing? I think I could do better on the writing but I don't want to take the test again if I don't need to. Also, do I still need to take the SAT? Are there any advantages to a SAT score over an ACT score? Do any colleges, scholarships, etc. require the SAT as opposed to the ACT?

I wouldn’t advise taking it again if you got a 35. You’re just setting yourself up to get the same or lower score.

I wouldn’t advise taking it again but I would also like to know if a high ACT score can just trump a lowish SAT score and allow me to not take it again.

No you are done. Also, writing does not really matter with that score.

Is there anything that requires an SAT that won’t accept an ACT?
