Hey guys, I just took the June ACT and realized that I don't have enough time to finish the science and reading sections. I know that for science we shouldn't really look at the passages and go straight to the questions, using only the passages when needed. Furthermore, I feel the best reading strategy for me is quickly reading the passages and then going to the questions. Does anyone have more specific strategies for the science and reading sections that could help bring those sections to at least a 35, maybe a 36?

Both of those sections were very rushed for me as well, but i still got 36 in each. You may have as well, even if you left a few blank or guessed. Definitely don’t read the science passages: go straight to the questions and look for the answer. Its hard to give a specific strategy for science because while its long, it is a very literal/exact section. For reading, i always read the full section and then move on to questions. Skip any questions you don’t know where to find answer to in a few seconds. When you go back to unanswered questions, guess on those you can quickly narrow down to 2-3 options, skip those you have no idea on and repeat. practice these sections at home by timing yourself, and good luck if you decide to retake.

Thanks, that was really helpful! Do you normally leave the conflicting science passage science for the end?

No problem. And yes, I left it for the end, except I skipped my normal strategy of going straight to the questions and skimmed the passages to get a general idea of where each scientist was coming from.

Okay that sounds great! So how did you, or anyone else on this thread, practice/study for the ACT reading and science at home or elsewhere? Did you just take the practice tests and examine them, or did you have a more specific strategy?
