I am currently practicing the reading section. My reading speed is fine as I can get an overview/idea of the passage in around 2m, however, I take a lot of time answering questions. Any ideas on what I should do? I am currently making 24-26 on reading but it would help a ton if I know how to time myself or learn better strategies.
The #1 strategy is probably to read the questions first and then go back to the passage and look for the answer. You say that you can get an overview in 2 mins…don’t spend 2 mins even skimming it. Go straight to the questions and then go back to the passage. I know not everyone might agree with this strategy but for the ACT where time is of the essence, I found this to work best.
Is accuracy affected by this ? Like which questions do you start with or do you just read them and read the passage. What did you make on it btw
@MarcoXP For me, personally, this didn’t affect accuracy. You gotta find what works for you though. I start by skimming all of the questions to get a general idea. Then I read question by question and go back to the passage to find answers. Made a 36 on R.
What order do you answer the questions. Like what you start with
Just start with the ones you know for sure then come back and do the ones you weren’t sure of. Make sure to leave enough time to go back.
Actually do you just read the questions and read the passage afterwards until you find an answer? Or do you just read the questions and look in the passage for each question at the time?
I read the questions and look in the passage for each question one at a time.
Ok. Which types of questions do you start with? Lines/paragrap/vocab ones or message as a whole/uncited details?
Honestly don’t remember, I took it more than a year ago…just go in order and do the ones you know I guess
