ACT Reading Help

I am generally a fast reader, but I am not fast enough for the ACT reading section. I read every passage in about 3 mins (give or take 10 secs). BUT I tend to rush thru to finish on time. Reading score = 26. Wat can I do to help? besides more practice tests....I already know that. :D

I made a 35 on the reading section and even had enough time left over to check some of my answers. This is what I did:
1. Do the passages you like or that are the easiest for you first. On the last ACT, there was a difficult prose passage at the beginning of the section. While most of my friends wasted time struggling through it, I skipped it and did the other ones. Starting out with the hardest passage is probably a bad idea. Doing the easier ones first will get you in the "reading mindset" for the harder one.
2. Don't read the whole passage. I found that reading the first third of each passage was enough to answer most of the questions. For the ones not covered, skim through the rest of the passage.
3. I saved some time by making educated guesses. For example, if a passage is on the civil war, don't pick an answer choice that pertains to an earlier or later event.
