Hi,
I am currently preparing for the ACT (taking it in June) and I really want to get a 35 or 36. I can easily get a 35 or 36 on math and English but reading and science are my challenges. Could anyone give me any advice for those two sections that could help me in getting a 34+? Thank you!
S18 also was relatively weaker in reading and science than in the other two areas. I’m just bumping this post hoping someone else will see it who has feedback on those two sections.
What do you currently have for Science and Reading? and what are the weaknesses? time management?
I haven’t taken it yet. I’m taking in June for the first time. On a practice test, I got a 32 on science and 29 on reading; however, these are without any prep so I do think I can work my way up from these.
@UCanm17 Here is my take, keep in mind I am just a mom who was a teacher and have looked into the ACT to help my daughter, therefore YMMV…You said on a practice test, did you just try one? or have you tried a number of tests? If you are a junior and have not taken ACT yet, you may want to look into taking it in April if you can afford the time and money. If you plan to apply early action, you are likely only have June/Sep/Oct… So many times I read on CC when senior asking whether their results would arrive at the colleges on time…I also think that scores above 34 are also depends on luck, say not making careless mistakes (obviously doing a lot of practice tests or study may help)…Sometimes it depends on whether you connect with the passage…whether it is a topic you are familiar with.
BTW, also look into prepscholar’s how to get a 36.
Originally, I wasn’t going to take it but since my SAT is only a 1490 and the ACT is easier, I figured I would try that. As such, I didn’t start ACT prep until recently so I guess I’m at a bit of a disadvantage.
